Obituary for William Jerome "Bill" Melfi

William J. Melfi “Bill”, age 73, of Albuquerque, went with the Lord Monday, August 22, 2016 at his home after a three year fight with stomach cancer. He was born in Newark, NJ on November 13, 1942 to James J. Melfi and Antoinette Pizzani. Bill was the CFO of Reserve Industries that he managed along with his brother since 1977. When not in the office, you could find him playing golf with his group of friends at the Albuquerque Country Club. He would be playing golf whenever he found a free minute. The greens will be missing him. He also was an excellent cook and enjoyed bridge, a good martini, and socializing with friends.
Bill graduated from Valley HS, Albuquerque, in 1961 and attended NMSU, Las Cruces, where he graduated in 1967 with an Electrical Engineering degree and met his wife, Marcea Christine “Chris” Nichols. He was also a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity at NMSU. Bill and Chris married in Las Cruces on April 17, 1968. They lived several places with Kentron as an Electrical Engineer including Johnson Island in the south Pacific, Alabama, and Kwajalein Atoll, also in the south Pacific. They returned back to New Mexico in 1977 and remained there until his death.
Bill is survived by his wife, Chris Melfi; son, Will Melfi of Houston; daughter, Marcea Wilson of Colorado Springs; brothers, Frank and James Melfi; three grandchildren, Ben, Peter, and Sara; and great-grandchild, Lilly. He also leaves many beloved brothers and sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and golfing buddies. He is preceded in death by his parents; step-mothers, and sister, Maryann.
Bill’s Memorial Service will be held Friday, September 2, 2016, 2:00 p.m., at the Cathedral of St. John, 318 Silver Ave. SW, 87102. A reception will follow as Bill requested that a great party be thrown in his honor and that everyone have a great time.
