Obituary for Nancy Kruger

Nancy Kruger joined the Lord's family in Heaven on Saturday evening February 25th, 2017. She will be sorely missed, but we celebrate the amazing person that she was and appreciate how much better our lives were for having known her.

Nancy was accomplished; dedicated and passionate for all that she did. She earned an MBA from UNM and was constantly educating herself; from learning French, to becoming a duplicate bridge silver life master, to reading thousands of books on her own or as an active board member of the Sanado Women's Club.
Nancy helped her community tirelessly. She was a founding member of Meals on Wheels, an Elder and Deacon at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, an advocate for Barrett House, a Forest Service Volunteer, and much more. She baked thousands of pies (over 400 pies in one season) for the Asbury Cafe, a charity program of Asbury United Methodist church, and the people that bought those pies were in for a treat, for she was a master at baking delicious goods.

Her contributions to the community were significant, but to her friends and family, she was irreplaceable. As a loved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend Nancy provided the social backbone for her family and was the glue that brought many friends together. She led hiking groups, organized bridge communities, planned trips nearby and around the world with friends and family; encouraging everyone that joined her to get the most out of life. Through her travels, meeting and making friends and more often as an amazing hostess, she brought together a diverse group of strangers into a quilted community of long lasting friends. Nancy leaves behind her husband of 58 years, Charles Kruger; three children: Mark, Sheryl, and Robert; grandchildren: Melissa, Kyle, Lisa, Caprice and her husband Tom who are parents of Nancy's one great grandchild Aria; she also leaves behind her brother Jim; stepmother Mary; sister-in-law Millie as well as nieces and nephews all of whom she loved.

Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be Thursday, March 9, 2017, 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, 114 Carlisle Blvd SE, Albuquerque, NM 87106. Interment will follow at 2:15 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Immanuel Presbyterian Church.
