Obituary for A. Ben Bull

A. Ben Bull, 95, passed quietly in his sleep on March 17, 2017, with family members lovingly at his side. He was born on April 04, 1921 in Witcherville, Arkansas to P.L. and Amy Summers Bull. He was the seventh of nine children with seven brothers and one sister. In his younger years, he lived and worked on family farms in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Kansas.
He married the beautiful Edna Lucille Folsom in 1942, prior to shipping out to WWII. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1942 and became a member of the 87th Construction Battalion. He spent three years with the Seabees in the South Pacific. During the war, he was the recipient of two Bronze Stars.
After the war, he returned to Fort Smith, Arkansas and worked at Wards Ice Cream for 18 years. He later worked as a heavy equipment mechanic for several construction companies in the area. He and his wife moved to Houston, Texas in 1998.
Ben was preceded in death by his wife, Edna; his parents, and his siblings. He leaves his daughter, Nancy Brackett, of Houston, Texas, and his son, Adam Bull, Jr. and wife Gretchen, of Corrales, NM. He has five grandchildren, Jeffrey Brackett and wife Melanie, of Claremore, Oklahoma, Kathy Dawson and her husband Mark, of Houston, Texas, Adam B. Bull, III and wife Deidra, of Houston, Texas, Aaron Bull and wife Mica, of Houston, Texas, and Rochanda Henry and her husband Trevor, of Flagstaff, Arizona. He was the proud great-grandfather to Megan, Zachary, Amber, John, Bradley, Aaron, Archer, Kaela, Clarence, Steven, and Nova, and great-great-grandfather to Rever and Zoe. He will be remembered by all for his singing, his gentleman ways, his kindness and his wit.
A Memorial Service for Ben will be held Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church, 305 Unser Blvd., Rio Rancho, New Mexico 87124. A reception at the church will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Calvary Lutheran Church Youth Group at the above-listed address.
